Halloween Out of Your Closet: Military

Here is one more idea for Halloween. I would like the colors of pants and jackets to match up exactly but the whole point of this post is to use whatever you have in hands... so here is my far from perfect military look.

I'm sure anyone can find at least one of these pieces in their closets. Military pants, white t-shirt and some accessories would work too.

Jacket: Thrift store (similar here, loving this); Pants: Zara (even better here); Boots: Cathy Jeans (old, similar here); Hat: Puma (old); Belt: (from Brazil); Glasses: Kate Spade (aviator would be better); Lips: Mac - Russian Red

Fall Trend: Baroque

The baroque trend really came to stay... I see it everywhere in every form, color and texture. I love everything about this Just Cavalli black and gold dress... except the price tag.

It's Raining... Hallelujah!

Finally we got some rain in SoCal this weekend... just in time to "test drive" my new and first ever wellies.

I debated for a long time if I should buy Hunter or a similar but less expensive version. OKAY, I'm a little frugal but also I didn't know how often I would wear rain boots here in dry land.

I dragged this decision for years and finally brought this Sam Edelman home for only $49. I have a feeling I will be wearing these a lot, even when it's not raining... is that allowed?

I couldn't be happier with my boots, it fits me perfectly (the shaft is not as long as other brands) and I love the slim look, fake buttons and the charming crest on the side.

Top: Cotton On; Denin Jacket: AE (similar here); Blazer: Thrift store (similar here); Jeans: Madewell (similar here, love this); Scarf: Nordstrom (baby section, similar here); Hat: Urban Outfitter (old - men's section, loving this); Shades: Kate Spade; Boots: Sam Edelman; Bag: Coach (old)

Olivia Palermo Moment

I got this dress through a friend who loves fashion and just started her blog (check it out here). It's a Mcginn Knightsbridge and costed me only $20 - hard to believe :)
I had an Olivia Palermo moment and decided to dress it down throwing a military jacket over it... I just don't know if I look as chic and effortless as her, but at least I tried.

Dress: Mcginn Knightsbridge; Jacket: Zara (not available anymore, similar here); Clutch: F21 (similar here); Pumps: BCBG; Belt: BCBG Generation

Metamorphose - Part III

This is the last take on my metamorphose look. Very simple: a white t-shirt and a trench coat. What I like about it is the different but some how similar print of my scarf and skirt. What do you think? I don't like the black pumps though, I would prefer one in burgundy or even a rain boot to complete the look but I don't have any of those in my closet... time to go shopping!

Top: Costco; Coat: London Fog (old, like this); Skirt: Nordstrom (similar herehere and here); Scarf: from a small boutique; Pumps: BCBG; Shades: Kate Spade;

Metamorphose - Part II

My metamorphose continue with a warm high-low sweater purchased a few months ago at Nordstrom... it's very soft and was on sale for a very good price. Love the geometric shapes paired with the organic flowers on my skirt. Just added a scarf (on sale now at J.Crew), a pair of ankle boots (can't live without them anymore) and instantly, fall is here... finally!

Metamorphose - Part I

Hi everybody, I hope you had a great weekend! I'm sorry for vanishing last week but I needed some time off to organize my personal life... I'm so glad to be back!

My outfit today is the first of a series of three. I will post two more this week showing how to gradually transition from warm to cool and wet weather featuring this indulgent floral print skirt. My "metamorphose" starts with this ridiculously old chambray shirt (probably 20 years old) and my brand new J.Crew mint sweater (or aqua?) on sale now. Check back this week for two more looks...

Skirt: Nordstrom (similar herehere and here); Shirt: United Colors of Benetton (similar here); Sweater: J.Crew; Shoes: From Brazil; Shades: Kate Spade; Bangles: Loehmann's;
